Spectaculu is a Brazilian nonprofit school based in the Port district of Rio de Janeiro since 1999. It provides professional training in entertainment, art, technology, and creative industries for young people aged 17 to 21 from the public school system who live in socially and economically vulnerable areas of Greater Rio. The school focuses on expanding access to knowledge and creating real pathways to employment in sectors that face a shortage of skilled workers.
Students participate in a ten-month intensive program with classes five days a week, receiving technical training in areas such as stage props, beauty, stage management, sewing and costume design, photography, lighting, set construction, and sound and image treatment. Rooted in an educational approach that encourages critical thinking, the curriculum also includes philosophy, citizenship, communication, creativity, art history, music, and body language.
